The Flash Podcast SDCC 2016 Interview | Blake Neely, Composer Of The Flash, Arrow, Legends & Supergirl

There are several key factors to a successful show, from writers, actors, producers, cinematographers, directors, production teams as well as composers. Blake Neely is the man behind the music and score of our favorite CW DCTV shows such as Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl (which is moving from CBS to CW this season) and has been part of the Berlanti-Verse since the beginning. At this year’s Comic-Con, The Flash Podcast’s very own Amy Marie Hypnarowski was fortunate to sit down with Neely to talk about what goes into making the scores for so many shows. The Flash Podcast Season 2.5 - Episode 4: Hunter Zolomon/Zoom In Season 2

On the fourth episode of Season 2.5 of The Flash Podcast’s summer season, Andy Behbakht is joined by several terrific guests, with Brian Roll (better known as the artist Odyssey Art Torch who we teamed up with for a giveaway a few months ago!) as well as Nerd Repository’s Kyle Wilson (who guested on last year’s summer season) and Alan Schuler, for the third character review for Season 2.

As we have discussed several of the heroic supporting characters in the past few weeks, this week it’s all about the big bad of Season 2 – Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. the terrifying Zoom, played by Teddy Sears. Throughout the discussion, the four nerds discuss Sears as Barry’s latest villain who at first posed as Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-2 before being revealed as Zoom. How does Hunter compare to the show’s first big bad, Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Reverse-Flash? What did they feel about Hunter’s backstory and motivations? Who would they want to see as the big bad of Season 3?

In addition, they discuss the big news of Arrow’s John Barrowman signing on to be a series regular on not just Arrow, but also The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. How will the Dark Archer fit in on these other DC TV shows? That and more on the summer season of The Flash Podcast! In addition, check out Brian’s new art of Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom below!

[NOTE: This episode was recorded on Monday, July 11, which was the day BEFORE the news of Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally West becoming Kid Flash in Season 3 which is why there was no discussion about the news - but don't worry, we will talk about it on air next time!]

The Flash Podcast Season 2.5 - Episode 3: Jesse Quick & Wally West In Season 2

On the third episode of Season 2.5 of The Flash Podcast’s summer season, Andy Behbakht is joined by fellow DC TV Podcasts members, Carly Lane (host of Supergirl Radio and weekend editor at The Mary Sue) and Kat Calamia (host of Legends of Tomorrow Podcast and comic editor at The Marvel Report) for the second character review for Season 2.

However, it’s not just about one character this time: it’s a double character review as the trio discusses the new players, Jesse Quick and Wally West who debuted this season, played by the talented Violett Beane and Keiynan Lonsdale, respectively. Throughout the discussion, the trio talks about the two characters portrayal in live-action as this was the first time either one of them had been used in live-action, with Jesse being the daughter of Harry Well and Wally being Iris West’s little brother rather than nephew.

They bring up favorite moments as well as what they hope to see for the two [future] speedsters in Season 3 both during and after the Flashpoint saga. Also, in the news session, they discuss Kevin Smith’s upcoming Flash episode, Season 3 officially starting production and the big casting announcement that came out last week for The Flash that Harry Potter’s very own Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton, has joined the series as a full time cast member! Who is Julian Dorn, why does he have suspicions about Barry Allen and could he possibly be the new big bad for Season 3, but in disguise? That and more on the summer season of The Flash Podcast!

The Flash Podcast Season 2.5 - Episode 2: Joe West In Season 2

On the second episode of Season 2.5 of The Flash Podcast’s summer season, Andy Behbakht and Adam Holmes are joined by special guest and fellow DC TV Podcasts member, Carly Lane (host of Supergirl Radio and weekend editor at The Mary Sue) for the first character review for Season 2.  It’s none other than Detective Joe West (played by the brilliant Jesse L. Martin), father of Iris and Wally West, surrogate dad to Barry and member of Team Flash.

Throughout the discussion, the trio talks about Joe’s journey in Season 2 as he discovered that he had a biological son out there. The show also gave us a look at Joe West of Earth-2 that was quite different from his Earth-1 counterpart. The gang also brings up their favorite Joe moments and what they hope to see for him in Season 3 both during and after the Flashpoint saga.

They also discuss a couple of news items for The Flash with the show being set to appear at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con again along with the news that Violett Beane will be back as Jesse Quick for Season 3. In addition, they nerd out about the announcement of Lynda Carter, TV’s Wonder Woman, coming to Supergirl for Season 2 as…the President of United States! That and more on the summer season of The Flash Podcast!

The Flash Podcast Special Edition: Time Travel In The Flash

On a special edition episode of The Flash Podcast, Andy, Lauren, and Amy get together for a big discussion about one of their favorite aspects with the fastest man alive: time travel! Over the course of these two seasons, we have seen Barry time travel several times, both on accident and on purpose. Throughout the discussion, they talk about what the changes and consequences have been like through his time traveling, with questions such as:

-Is it “right” or “wrong” to go back in time, where is the line drawn?

-What does it mean to save something in the past, but give up something else?

-What are the effects of other speedsters going back in time and is there too much on the show?

-Could Barry’s evolution of mastering time travel become either a strength or curse for him as a hero?

-With big stakes in time travel, are there prices to be paid that are worth it in order to defeat Zoom and future villains to come?

In addition, they discuss the big news that came out last that we’ll be seeing Katie Cassidy guest star on The Flash as the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance, who will go by Black Siren! That and more on the latest special edition of The Flash Podcast! The Flash is currently on its final mini-hiatus and will be back with all new episodes on Tuesday, April 19 at 8/7c on The CW with the 18th episode titled “Versus Zoom”.
